Man, I hate exams. They're two weeks away and I can feel them, suffocating me, suffocating my art....a true artist doesn't need mundane things like exams....*dissolves into self-righteous ramble*
Well, I keep telling people I'm going to upload stuff, but there's these nasty little annoyances like sickness and school that keep getting in my way. But I did have time to work on a mermaid sketch, kind of improving an old one that I lost when my computer crashed awhile back. It's not done, but I decided to compile this.
Wait a moment. Have I...have I improved? Do I actually suck less now then I did a few years back? Looks like that might be true.
This is a little mermaid character I came up with a long while back and have continued drawing from time to time (wow, those colors look familiar...). This is just to have shown how I've improved in the last two years, since 2010 is speeding at me faster and faster.
The first - My first ever try at a mermaid. Got the pose from that awesome Spiderwick book, and it somehow turned into this weird pseudo-anime thing, which is weird since I don't like anime. Anyways, she has no mouth, a very strange torso/waist, and dislocated shoulders. Sad thing is it took me a long time.
The second - Another try at a mermaid. Much better than the first, but the torso/waist is still out of proportion, and she has strange hips. Plus no lower lip, and her arms look very strange. The colors on the tail look kind of cool, I'll admit.
The third - Still a work in progress, adapted from the second one. I gave her a better expression, redid the entire torso, and changed the length of the arms and the position of the tail. Not perfect, but a definite improvement.
